The Spirit of Physics
The class is bustling with noise. A guy walks in — goes straight to the board and starts drawing lines frantically. Within seconds you have a free body diagram and a problem thrown at you. That's how I met Shyam Pandey a.k.a. Shyambabu. Full of energy, enthusiasm, and eagerness to share his knowledge.
If you are looking for a place to learn the deepest secrets of physics, he's your man. If you are looking for an honest feedback, you can trust him. If you are one of those who needs the inspiration, just attend one of his classes. The dose of inspiration should last at least for a month.
The ability to inspire is what makes him different than others. It is impossible to attend his class and not draw upon his vivacity. Not only he knows the complex problems of physics inside out but most importantly plants inside you the passion for it which makes his class a brainstorming session full of new ideas. It is a treat to attend. I value this quality most as I benefitted from it most by learning to keep up my motivation throughout the year drawing upon his perpetual exuberance. Our class used to debate most of the time which was fun as Shyambabu helped us to allow our curiosity and thirst for knowledge to take over the exam mentality.
Shyambabu knows the right stuff and tricks of the trade. There have been many occasions where brightest of us struggled with the question just to conclude there could not be any quick solution but Shyambabu gave the method that would solve it instantly. He has the habit of picking up peculiar problems which equips one to deal with complex situations. There always is a key take away point as no two problems of his are similar. Not just that, he also picks out similar problems from the books for you to learn how to apply his technique which makes practice easier.
He connects well with his students due to his friendly approach and open attitude. He is on the same ground as you during any discussion. You can ask any silly question in the world and defend vehemently your point of view as you would with a friend without worrying about questioning his authority. Though you can also be sure his feedback and evaluation of yourself will be very honest and matter-of-fact. If you are overconfident or cocky, he will crush you and bring you to the ground and then give you the hope and wings to fly again.
Being a Mien, he knows what it takes to get there. Be sure that he will be with you as a friend more than as a teacher throughout the journey. Learning from him is an amazing opportunity to form a perfect teacher-student relationship. A great teacher pulls the student to his level by inspiration and forms a bond of friendship. I find Shyambabu similar to a great teacher in that aspect. When it comes to exams nothing helps more than knowing the right stuff and persistence throughout the preparation which you can rely upon him for. If you want to master physics, learn it from the master of physics. And most importantly, I am sure you will have fun while doing it.
All the best.
